A new step forward in reporting discrimination in Hungary was taken this week as Háttér society launches a new online reporting system.
Lesbian and Gay victims of discrimination, harassment, violence and such problems based on their sexual orientation or gender identity can now fill out electronic forms in order to report an incident and request legal assistance.
According to a recent survey, as much as 44 per cent of GLBT Hungarians have had experienced anti-gay discrimination, however the majority did not and would not report such incidents to the authorities.
Háttér believe the new project will help "promote the reporting and documentation of incidents as well as provide easy access to competent and free legal aid."
It’s a campaign that’s being welcomed by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association who are putting up the funding.
